When Is the Best Time to Cruise the Caribbean?

The Caribbean remains one of the most popular cruise destinations in the world because it offers warm weather, beautiful water, easy travel options, and year-round itineraries from nearly every major cruise line.

But every season feels completely different once you're actually onboard. Weather, crowds, pricing, sea conditions, and overall atmosphere can vary significantly depending on the month you choose.

Personally, I tend to prefer cruising the Caribbean in May. The weather is usually still excellent, the ships feel less crowded than peak winter months, and pricing often becomes noticeably more reasonable before summer demand spikes.

Temperatures generally stay between 78–84°F, and these months pair especially well with major Caribbean sailings from cruise lines like Royal Caribbean and Disney Cruise Line.

The downside is simple: these months are also the busiest and most expensive. Holiday sailings and spring break weeks can become extremely crowded.

May – Early June: Best Combination of Weather & Value

May and early June are often overlooked, but they are easily among the best times to cruise the Caribbean if you want a balance between good weather and lower pricing.

This is personally one of my favorite periods to cruise because the overall experience feels more relaxed. The weather is still warm and tropical, but ships usually feel less chaotic compared to peak winter and summer periods.
