Cabin: Ocean View

Favorite Part: My favorite part was experiencing our first Oasis-class ship as a family and realizing how spacious it felt. We booked three rooms and traveled with kids and extended family, so I expected crowds and long waits but it never felt packed. There was always somewhere to go and room to spread out. I also loved sailing out of Fort Lauderdale and getting to experience destinations we normally wouldn’t from Galveston. The combination of the ship, the family memories, and the overall atmosphere made this one of our favorite vacations.

What Surprised Them: What surprised me the most was how uncrowded the ship felt and how much we loved our room. I expected a ship that size to feel busy all the time, but we rarely waited in lines and always felt comfortable moving around. I was also shocked by our ocean view room with an obstructed view we expected a small porthole experience and instead had this huge angled wall of windows looking out over the front of the ship. It ended up feeling spacious and gave us an incredible view.

Advice: If you’re sailing on Oasis of the Seas—or really any Royal Caribbean ship—join the Facebook group for your exact sailing before your trip. Search the ship name and sail date and you’ll usually find a group full of people sharing tips, timelines, and cruise advice. That’s how I learned when to reserve onboard entertainment and picked up a lot of useful trade secrets before boarding.

Also, don’t be afraid of the larger ships. I thought a ship that size would feel crowded, but it was actually one of the easiest and most comfortable cruises we’ve taken with a family. And if you see an ocean view room with an obstructed view, don’t automatically skip it you might end up pleasantly surprised like we were.
